Frequently Asked Questions
What do you do at Kepplewray?
We provide fully accessible accommodation and outdoor activities for all. Our guests include schools, youth groups, special needs groups, churches, families and businesses. We can also accommodate training courses, small business conferences and one-day meetings.
Who owns Kepplewray?
The Kepplewray Centre is owned by Kepplewray Ltd (Company No 2675957) and this in turn is owned by The Kepplewray Trust, a registered UK charity (1015762). It is non-profit making.
Why Kepplewray and How long have you been around?
Our vision arose from a group of Christians concerned to develop outdoor activities that would not exclude anyone and our Christian ethos remains. The charity was formed in 1993 and we opened to guests in 1998.
How big are you?
We can accommodate around 60 people residentially and between 50 and 100 on a day basis. We have between 10 and 25 staff (some part-time and seasonal) and a number of volunteers. Our annual turnover is approaching £500,000.
How do I book?
You can contact us by phone, post or email and we will discuss dates etc. Please see our prices page for more information.
Do you have risk assessments available?
Yes, please ask when you contact us.
Are you a recognised centre?
Yes. Our outdoor activities are inspected by AALA (Activities Adventure Licencing Authority) each year. We are recognised by several Local Education Authorities and on their centre approval lists. We are regularly inspected by Environmental Health, the Fire Service and other legislative authorities. We are members of CCI UK (Christian Camping International). We have been awarded the IIP (Investors in People) kite mark of good practice.
How are you funded?
We receive income from bookings, which covers around 60% of our expenditure. 20% of our income is from regular giving and each year we have to find 20% from fundraising.
Do you have volunteers?
Yes, we have a number of local volunteers who help with various tasks from admin to washing up to helping with activities. We also have volunteers and student placements from all over the country and beyond. Please see the Support us page.
